On Saturday 8 October choreographer Joeri Dubbe was awarded the Prize of the 2011 Nederlands Dansdagen Maastricht; he received the prize from the hands of the Alderman for Culture of the City of Maastricht, Jaques Costongs. The prize comes with a financial endowment of € 12.00,-. This money will enable Dubbe to make a performance for this coming season that will premiere at the Nederlands Dansdagen in 2012.
The Prize for the Nederlands Dansdagen Maastricht in intended for remarkable choreographers who have already done a few eye-catching projects in the professional field, but have not yet received structural subsidy. Choreographers who have realized independent productions as well as choreographers working with companies are eligible for nomination. It is required that they have been working in the Netherlands for some time. Erik Kaiel won the Prize in 2009 and created the performance Blade Runner.
Joeri's piece Chrono is touring till November.
