Iván Pérez

 The Spanish dancer Iván Pérez began making choreographies in 2002, after his studies in choreography and dramaturgy. These first efforts won him immediate success and a number of awards. Like Amos Ben-Tal, Pérez was attached to the Nederlands Dans Theater where he was given opportunities to further develop his talents in choreography. For the NDT workshops, he created the successful productions A Day Minute (2009) and A Transition (2010), both of which have been performed abroad. He was asked twice by the artistic director of the NDT to create a piece for the company. Pérez will stop dancing with the NDT from this season on to dedicate himself entirely to his career as a choreographer.

Hide And Seek

Six people find themselves in a space. They do not know each other, but they must depend on each other. They light-heartedly sound each other out, challenge each other. Hide And Seek is the new production by Spanish choreographer Iván Pérez. He danced with the Nederlands Dans Theater, developed his choreographic talent there, and has since dedicated himself to creating his own work. He has previously touched audiences with the compelling duet Kick the Bucket. In Hide And Seek, things get a bit more gruesome.

Exchange Project ArtEZ Dansacademie, University for Music and Dance Cologne, Instituto Superior De Ensenanzas Artisticas  (Netherlands/Germany/Spain)

In June 2012, the result of a unique one-time-only exchange project involving three dance academies – Valencia, Cologne, and Arnhem – will tour through Europe. The 55 students of these academies work together with choreographers Iván Pérez and Georg Reischl and two young composers Benjamin Scheuer and Christiaan Richter. Orkest de Ereprijs performs the music live during this tour.

Kick The Bucket

Is man conscious of his own existence? Are we strong and sensitive enough to get the most out of life? Kick The Bucket is a duet filled with extreme emotions, according to Iván with a more positive slant than the saying ‘kick the bucket’ would suggest. It’s not about dying per se, though perhaps one can only truly live when one, figuratively speaking, dies.
