Percevale Perks

With a background as a dancer in the United States, Germany, and with the Nederlands Dans Theater in the Netherlands, Percevale Perks now works as a freelance choreographer. He created his first choreographies with the Hamburg Ballet; these were performed at various festivals in Germany. Though as a dancer his name has been familiar to Korzo audiences for some years, his work as a choreographer was only shown for the first time last season in Korzo at the 2011 Voorjaarsontwaken.

The buzz that The Hague is dancing is not new. Throughout the year, The Hague is a breeding ground for fresh dance talent, the melting pot for local and international dance professionals, and the place to be for important premières. With Here we live and now the Korzo production house for dance in The Hague has been celebrating the wealth of choreographic talent in this city. This yearly platform shows how rich this city is with choreography talent. And how important it is to give makers opportunities to show their work to a curious audience. A broad scale of dance makers have presented new work in this festival. This edition of November 2011 Amos Ben-Tal, Iván Pérez, Perceval Perks, and Marina Mascarell are invited to make new creations in a short space of time, and to present that work in one full-length program.

Amos Ben-Tal
Amos Ben-Tal was born in Israel in 1979. He started dancing at the age of 13 in various schools in Israel and completed his dance training in 1997 at The National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada. Amos then came to Holland where he joined the Nederlands Dans Theater, performing with the company for nine years between 1997 and 2006. It was also at the NDT where he developed his passion for choreography.

Iván Pérez
The Spanish dancer Iván Pérez began making choreographies in 2002, after his studies in choreography and dramaturgy. These first efforts won him immediate success and a number of awards. Like Amos Ben-Tal, Pérez was attached to the Nederlands Dans Theater where he was given opportunities to further develop his talents in choreography. For the NDT workshops, he created the successful productions A Day Minute (2009) and A Transition (2010), both of which have been performed abroad. He was asked twice by the artistic director of the NDT to create a piece for the company. Pérez will stop dancing with the NDT from this season on to dedicate himself entirely to his career as a choreographer.

Percevale Perks
With a background as a dancer in the United States, Germany, and with the Nederlands Dans Theater in the Netherlands, Percevale Perks now works as a freelance choreographer.
