Pierre Pontvianne began his career with Nederlands Dans Theater 2 and then danced with Forsythe’s Ballet Frankfurt, Carte Blanche, and for Korzo in a work by Bruno Listopad. In 2004 he established the company Compagnie Parc in his hometown of Saint-Étienne. Last year he created the solo Janet on the Roof for and with the Swiss dancer Marthe Krummenacher, who, just like Pierre, danced with NDT 2, Ballet Frankfurt, and for Korzo (in work by Jérôme Meyer).
With this solo performance, the choreographer offers a dance that is both moving and pictorial, where imperceptible changes of posture and intense energy shifts represent the minuscule and immense transformations our world endures.
Marthe Krummenacher deploys an infinity of images here, where all time and all space punctuate both the desire for change and the sense of an ending. She plunges the audience into an interstice between a state of stupor and astonishment, performing a hypnotic dance within that space.
“The horizon is troubled, the present is tense, what appeared far away is already in front of us.”

‘[...] a portrait free from anecdote; it’s the beauty of gesture of Pierre Pontvianne. His poem is somewhat of an enigma.’ (Le Temps, October 16)
