Composer Elmer Schönberger and choreographer Beppie Blankert are both great admirers of the painter and sculptor Alberto Giacometti. With two dancers and five musicians from Nieuw Amsterdams Peil, Blankert created an aesthetically pleasing dance concert about the artist and his model, about seeing and being seen. The performance depicts the long and exhaustive sessions in which the perfectionist artist Alberto Giacometti made a portrait of American art critic James Lord. It is an intriguing game of seeing and being seen between two people with an excellent gift for both. The piece is preceded by Stravinsky’s Duo Concertante.
