Moriscos II: Fuente

Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest, Tiempos Nuevos

a musical encounter between Spain en Morocco

Moriscos is a musical journey along the Mediterranean. Lost mystical repertoires and stories from the Iberian Peninsula are experiencing a revival. Together with renowned musicians, the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra goes on a journey of exploration to a rich musical past. Fuente (source) joins together two styles in one program: flamenco and a mixture of Arab-Andalusian styles. The trio Tiempos Nuevos sets flamenco aflame in a magnificent ensemble. The second part blurs divisions and presents music from Al Andalus. No one from Maghreb plays the transition of this music with such refinement as Metioui. With his Al Armawi quintet, he presents the music in its purest form. Among the musicians at his side is Ahmed El Maai, a true phenomenon on the qanun.
