This special edition of Salon Joussour, for the Oriental Landscapes festival, presents the Rembrandt Frerichs Trio together with one of the great Iranian singers of Persian classical music, Mohammed Motamedi. He is not only a great singer but also a gifted improviser. In 2013 he won the Prix France Musique. He sang in the ensemble led by Hossein Alizadeh, among others, and is an internationally acclaimed soloist.
The Rembrandt Frerichs Trio, with bass player Tony Overwater and drummer Vinsent Planjer, has played with big names in Persian music before. Kayhan Kalhor and Hossein Alizadeh were regular guests. The collaboration with Mohammad Motamedi is the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream to work with an Iranian vocalist. The trio uses historic instruments such as the fortepiano and the violone, which with regard to sound colour are both well suited to Persian music.
