Salon Joussour the recurrent meeting place between east and west, this time plays host to the Iranian Hossein Alizadeh and the trio of Dutch pianist Rembrandt Frerichs. Alizadeh is perhaps the most important figure in the Persian music scene, with an international concert practice. His technique on the Persian târ (long-necked lute) is best compared with that of flamenco guitarists. With Rembrandt Frerichs at the fortepiano, tuned to play quartertones, Tony Overwater op violone (that approximates the sound of the Arabian ud) and Vinsent Planjer with and unconventional collection of percussion, the Dutch musicians fit in perfectly in terms of sound colour and dynamics with Alizadeh’s music.
