Jazz for Syria aims to raise awareness and support for Syrian refugees in Northern Iraq and Syria, raising funds for relief efforts of partner Terre des Hommes Netherlands. Jazz for Syria will take place on UNESCO’s International Jazz Day, April 30, 2015.
Under the artistic direction of Oene van Geel, the concert will feature solo and collaborative performances by artists including The Nordanians, Rembrandt Frerichs trio, Tony Overwater, Dick de Graaf, Gerard Kleijn, Joost Kesselar, Maarten Ornstein, Tony Roe, Mehmet Polat, Sanem Kalfa and George Dumitriu, JöP trio, Maryana Golovchenko, Modar Salameh, and special guests Ibrahim Kevo (saz, traditional Syrian singer), Nizar Rouhana (oud from Palestine) and Whirling Dervish dancer Ahmad Alkhateeb aka Broukar (Syria).

GLOBAL WEEK FOR SYRIA links Syrian, Arab, and other international artists and connects a five day music festival and conferences in Beirut with one day concerts in Amsterdam, The Hague, Paris, Prague, Madrid and Vienna via an online platform. More than 40 Syrian musicians and 100 international artists will help to spread the Global Week for Syria’s message of peace.
