Last year the Australian-Dutch composer Kate Moore was the first woman to receive the prestigious Matthijs Vermeulen Prize for her composition The Dam. As ‘Zielsverwant’ (kindred spirit), she creates programs for the Muziekgebouw aan het IJ with colleagues with whom she feels kinship, and performs their work with her own Herz ensemble. This eminent ensemble travels specially to Korzo in The Hague to perform these programs in the city where Kate studied. In x gen x connection is the central theme. The ten composers that Kate has selected have also left their country of birth to find their creative voice elsewhere. In a time of unprecedented social and technological transformation, they see potential instead of limitations. x gen x shows a culture of diversity and globalisation.
'Kate's vision as an artist is very near to mine, so her choices for this program seem intriguing in their diversity. Besides, this team of musicians is a must hear.'
