Unheard Music Festival: Freedom in Diversity

How art and music can contribute to a more peaceful world

On Liberation Day we celebrate the freedom regained after World War II and the importance of diversity in our society. The concert Freedom in Diversity embodies this celebration through a captivating musical journey that brings together works by three notable composers: Caroline Shaw, Jonathan Dove and Julius Eastman. They each present their own unique contribution to the musical landscape and symbolize diversity in the world of modern music.

Freedom in Diversity is a tribute to those who fought for freedom and diversity, an open invitation for us to reflect about how art and music can contribute to a more inclusive and peaceful world. On Liberation Day we remember not only the past, but we also celebrate the future in which freedom and diversity can manifest.

Programme

  • Caroline Shaw - Entr’acte (string quartet)
  • Jonathan Dove - Out of Time (string quartet)
  • Julius Eastman - Evil N*gger (4 grand pianos)
