The Hague is queer! Coinciding with The Hague Pride, three queer makers tell stories of The Hague's LGBTQIA+ community in Pride Perspectives. Both an addition to the rich history of queer activism in The Hague and an opportunity to shout: everyone has the right to live their own life.

Pride Perspectives spotlights The Hague's LGBTQIA+ community. Three queer movement artists will create a movement portrait within 10 days, inspired by stories from The Hague's queer community. They will present those works in the middle of the city. The location will be announced soon.

The three makers are: JoJo Miyake Mugler, Cheroney Pelupessy, James Parnell.

Please note, the performances take place at Novotel Den Haag City Centre.

James Parnell

James is a Hague-based curator, facilitator, dancer, and zinester who focuses on community building, collective learning, and the conflicts that arise in these practices. He often works in cultures and artistic communities on the margins, such as queer communities, Black communities, and independent publishers.

Cheroney Pelupessy

Cheroney is a Dutch dancer and choreographer blending contemporary dance with personal narratives and multidisciplinary elements. Her works explore themes of identity, memory, and human connection, often focusing on generational lines and the resilience of women. Her recent projects delve deeper into her own identity, seeking vulnerability, strength, and transformation.

JoJo Miyake Mugler

Jo’ellina is a well known figure in the Dutch Ballroom Scene, she has graced the floors of the international ballroom scene with her runway and performance skills and from there built her career on mainstream platforms.  And for the last few years she is actively sharing her strength, wisdom and hope with the new generation of queer beings. Her goal is to share her truth so that other’s don’t have to struggle as much as she did. In that she has been successful and many find her story inspirational.

James Parnell - Hold Me Closer

Many queers navigate the world through connection—webs woven for survival. Bound by relationships, trust, and shared vision, these networks give us strength and belonging. But can something built for safety become a snare? Do we move freely, or do we become entangled? How do we exist within something that both sustains and constraints? How do we find comfort in contradiction and within the web?

Cheroney Pelupessy - Just before…

Captures the fleeting moment when two women find each other in a world that denies their existence. In a fragile space untouched by time, they move through confrontation, longing, and surrender—just before the outside world inevitably catches up with them.

JoJo Miyake Mugler -  She Rose

Transformation is a road filled with challenges, and sometimes we must destroy what once was in order to step into what will be. Socially, we are conditioned to fit into masculine or feminine roles, and people often expect us to be one way or another. But who gets to decide the definition of these roles? And isn’t every human being allowed to be unique in their own way?

When you embrace yourself fully and unconditionally, you’ll find that the only thing left to do is thrive and beam your light. And unapologetically blind the world’s prejudices.

The hotel is located in the Hague Passage. This is the only remaining example in the Netherlands of this type of covered shopping arcade, which was popular in major cities in the 2nd half of the 19th century. The Passage ranks with the passages of Milan, Moscow and Brussels among the most beautiful extant shopping arcades in Europe. The UNESCO monument possesses a magnificent appearance with its arcades, glass domes, walkways and carved facades.

Address: De Passage 68, 2511 AE Den Haag (across from the store Van Os)

In the heart of the historic Passage, lies Brasserie Gallery61. It was a Film Theatre long ago and now it is a cosy Brasserie. Using locally sourced and fresh ingredients, the chefs create delicious dishes. Enjoy snacks & drinks together in the monumental building.

Combine your visit to the Cadance Festival, with a tasty lunch, drinks or dinner. Take a seat on the covered and heated terrace and imagine yourself in Paris or Milan.
